The rooms are rated 1 due to the fact that the kitchen is unworkable...and the shower is in the second bedroom (Which is a sheet metal box). Lake is nice and close to a couple of nice areas for touristy things. Fishing on the lake is good. We came home a day early...possibly very misleading on the website? Caution - - some of the reviews are either friends or family.

We thoroughly enjoyed our one-week stay at The Oaks Resort. It is secluded enough that you can relax and enjoy privacy in this semi-rustic location, and our cabin had a large-screen TV for days when it rained. You could see a deer grazing, a large snapping turtle sticking his head up near the dock each night, and bluegill easily seen from the dock. A swimming island is visible and accessed nearby, and, of course, there are kayaks, a paddleboard, row boats, and a pedal boat which are all shared among the guests. This is exactly the kind of place we were looking for on Spider Lake, one of my favorite lakes in the Traverse City area. Kathleen was able to answer all of our questions and was very receptive to the needs of the guests. The photos of the cabins are very accurate. What you see is what you get. It's homey, fun, and relaxing. What more could you want?

Not only are the cabins beautiful and spacious, the view was incredible. Everything was just as pictured, even better. The kitchen was fully stocked, the beds were very comfortable. The owners are very quick to respond if you have questions. And we will definitely be back. You have access to a lot of activities at the cabin, like kayaks, boats, and paddle boats. Just a 10/10 experience.

We enjoyed the Oaks Resort so much last year that we came back again this summer for our family vacation! Kathleen is a wonderful and attentive host, the main house is a perfect fit for our family, and the lake is beautiful and peaceful. Looking forward to coming back again!!

Amazing place, and even more amazing people to work with! Beautiful lakefront location with kayaks, boats, and more included! Would HIGHLY recommend to anyone wanting a relaxing vacation with close proximity to downtown Traverse City! I 100% intend to come back for another perfect vacation :)
